From making an appointment to finding ‘the one’, here are the answers to some questions you may have about finding your perfect wedding dress at The Wedding House Derby.
Do I need an appointment to try on wedding dresses?
You will require an appointment for both bridal and bridesmaids consultations. This is to ensure we have a fitting room and a bridal specialist on hand to assist you. If you are passing on the off-chance that we have availability, always call in and ask. If we can accommodate you, we absolutely will. The Wedding House appointment fee is currently £25. This includes a private fitting area for you and your bridal party, an experienced bridal specialist devoted to you throughout the duration of your appointment and arrival drinks of your choosing from our very own cocktail bar (for yourself and bridal party limited to 3 guests. ) Appointments can be booked through this website by going to the Book Appointment tab and on our social media platforms. The Wedding House is proud to offer 4 unique, large and private fitting areas over 2 floors within the boutique, creating an relaxed environment for you and your bridal party during your wedding dress journey.
How long will my appointment last?
Our bridal and bridesmaids appointments are 90 minutes in duration. This means you will have plenty of time to browse through our dresses, choose some beautiful gowns to try on and find ‘the one!' During quieter times in store you are more than welcome to exceed this allocation if you need to. When the store is at capacity, if you require more time we would always invite you back in for an additional appointment.
What is the price range of your dresses?
Our wedding dresses are priced from £1,500 to around £7,000+. The average price point of our dresses sits around £2,500 to £3,500. We will work with you to ensure you are comfortable with the price range of gowns selected and all our gowns are clearly labelled with the price. At The Wedding House we are also proud to offer a sale room on the top floor of our boutique. Here you can choose from a selection of off-the-peg ex-sample gowns at significantly discounted prices.
What should I bring with me?
Don't worry about a checklist of things for your appointment. At The Wedding House we generally have most things on hand that could be needed. The most important thing is to bring the people you would want to share in your special moment with you. We have heels in varying sizes, however, you are more than welcome to bring your own. Nude underwear is also advisable but not essential. Most of our dresses have good support and wearing a bra isn't always advisable whilst trying on as they can alter the shape of the dress. However, if you feel more comfortable wearing one you absolutely can.
Who should I bring with me?
Finding your gown should be a special and memorable experience, shared with those you are closest to. Most of our brides bring between one and three guests and your appointment fee is for yourself and up to 3 guests. Additional guests are charged at £5 per person with prior arrangement with the boutique. We would love for you to bring the people whose opinions you value and trust the most, but remember that it can become confusing if you have too many opinions. We want you to feel confident and gorgeous when you stand in front of the mirror in one of our wedding dresses not like you are facing a judging panel! We believe everyone should experience the unforgettable joy of finding their dream dress with the people they love the most but the decision to say yes is yours and yours alone.
Are children allowed to my appointment?
During your appointment at The Wedding House we want you to feel as comfortable as possible. If that means bringing little ones with you, then please do. However, if you feel they would be a distraction from your experience, consider booking your appointment at a time where childcare can be arranged. We ask that any children attending are accompanied by an adult at all times. Please note that our fitting rooms are on the second floor so we cannot accommodate pushchairs
Which designers do you stock?
We are proud to have some of the most luxurious designers in the bridal industry available here at The Wedding House. We have wedding dresses from world-renowned designers such as Martina Liana, Jane Hill, Chosen by Kyha, Monreal, Herve Moreau, Julie Vino and our own TWH Couture range. To view current designers, please refer to our website. The Wedding House website is always kept up to date with designers and showcases images of every dress currently in store along with their price.
Do you offer plus size dresses?
The Wedding House offers a range of dresses in different sizes. In addition to carrying samples ranging in size, we work closely with our designers to ensure every beautiful body shape is catered for. Sample dresses at The Wedding House currently range in size from a UK 10 - 22. During appointments, sample gowns that are too large or too small can be clamped or paneled by our experienced bridal specialists to obtain the perfect fit.
How long do wedding dresses take to arrive once they’ve been ordered?
Once you have found your dream dress it will be made especially for you as our dresses don't sit waiting in a warehouse. It generally takes around six to nine months for a dress to arrive but can take longer or be quicker depending on the time of year and demand, so please bear this in mind when scheduling your appointment. We would also recommend that you leave at least two to three months for alterations. If your wedding is approaching sooner than this please don’t worry. We’d love for you to give us a call so we can discuss various rush-delivery options in more detail.
Do you sell bridesmaid dresses?
The Wedding House carries a large range of Bridesmaids and Flower Girls dresses. You can see a live view of these on our website, which is always kept up to date. All our Bridesmaids and Flower Girl dresses can be ordered in any colour and size to suit your theme.
Do you have a seamstress in store?
There are a number of seamstresses that support The Wedding House. These super talented ladies are not located within the store itself. When it comes to completing your dress alterations, our seamstresses will be on hand in their purpose built premises, offering an intimate and private appointment to all Wedding House brides. Alterations will be an additional charge direct with your seamstress. Almost all wedding dresses will require some alterations to get the perfect fit.
Where is best to park for my appointment?
Located in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter in Derby City Centre, The Wedding House offers no direct on street parking outside the store. Secure parking is available in Bold Lane (Parksafe) Car park - DE1 3NT which is a 2 minute walk from the boutique.
